Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Dr. Jessy knew she wanted to be a Veterinarian from the age of 9 years old.  She received a B.S. in Zoology from Michigan State University and then returned to Michigan State University for her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine where she was honored as the recipient of the Dr. Robert B. Ziegler Caring Award, an honor awarded to her by her fellow classmates.

A native of Kearney, Nebraska, Dr. Laura has nurtured a lifelong love for animals. She grew up with a menagerie of pets that included dogs, birds, fish, and even an iguana. What pets she didn't have, she found - she spent many happy hours visiting neighbors' kittens, rescuing toads, feeding caterpillars, and unsuccessfully attempting to hatch grocery store chicken eggs. Her experiences shadowing her hometown veterinarian cemented veterinary medicine as her calling.
